There are enough new mechanics in this mod to make 2-3 games. Unfortunately lots of them had no time to shine.
Good story.
New AI (can act suicidal at times).
Original weapons and enemies.
Creative maps.
Just give it a go.

A really well designed and polished mod. As others said, the 6 years of development can clearly be seen in every part of it. Especially the look and feel of the maps were impressive. The enemy variations were a nice touch and the battles felt intense. While the ending was somewhat abrupt, I like it as it was something very different.
It's great to get such wonderful Half-Life content in 2024.

The mod itself is a good idea, but it has some serious issues. Like the Teammate AI not working, and when I went to the Community Discord to request help, I was met with Hostility and Unprofessionalism.
You can see in their own comments on this mod page how toxic and naive they are. Thinking that they are in the right, and then going out of their way to blatantly and unjustly attack you for little to no reason, other than they are clearly just upset about negative criticism and the action to not tolerate their abuse.
All because I wouldn't get out of bed and post a screenshot hours later after I had asked for help... I was met with name calling, harsh language, slurs, and banned for calling them out. And now they are stalking my social media and attacking me because I am taking the time to shed light on what type of community they are.
Apparently this community recently (within the last few years or so) went under new management, and since then the mod and its community has seriously tanked. Plenty of comments and reviews that say that, so I am only assuming that is true. Especially since apparently they like to get their friends and attack you even in the comment section of this page...
Quite sad honestly, because this mod could have been great. But I guess I will either continue with Unification as many suggest, or just go back to Vanilla. I just wanted to expand more on my Dawn of War game, but apparently I am not allowed to do that without being attacked first... Such a shame, for a game that is 20+ years old, you would think people would want to keep it alive...

That one gorey and modern mod but without the ******** and more 90s\2000s influences. I think it's gonna be my number one choice if i want to play "zdoomified" doom.

This mod is an ultimate effort in attempting to improve on nigh perfection. Doom is a classic for a reason, in that every single aspect of it works perfectly in unison to create a perfectly designed and thought-out gameplay loop. However, DOOM can be a bit of an acquired taste for newer audiences that are used to more complex games, and so this mod works perfectly to ease a player into it.
While this mod does do an amazing job at touching up doom in many places, it goes beyond that and adds features that can seriously change the gameplay in and of itself, for better and at times for worse. However, the good FAR outweighs the bad here, and in my opinion this mod absolutely earns a 10/10, or at least as close as it can get to that.

This mod is incredibely impressive in many ways, And there are so much to talk about, but this review WILL contain some spoilers, so if you havent played yet and for the best experience, play it first.
Positives:
-Mesmerizing and immersive level design, unlike any i have ever seen in this game
-Good concept of having to go through a shadow dimension and coming back out of it
-There is only one enemy encounter in this mod (i did say it contains spoiler, dont sob) and its impressively well made, When i got the ingredients for the acid i 100% expected a monster encounter, but it still managed to scare me due to how cleverly set up it is, Easily one of the biggest scares i have ever had in my entire history with this game
-Intelligent puzzles, most of them were decent
-The attention of details put into the mod makes it more realistic, such as the fact that the top of the tower levels being smaller and thinner and the more you progress, the bigger the areas get
Negatives:
-Pretty much none to talk about except its so easy to get lost in the bigger areas of the mod
Im really looking forward for the next chapter and uncover more of its lore!
