Though this game had it bugs and glitches, awful graphics and the cars were hard to handle, this has been one of my best childhood games.
as far as i know, this is the only game ever made so far where i can mount weapons on my car, destroy entire buildings, hover in the air and kill aliens like a mofo.
i haven't played this game in a while, but i somehow found the cover with the CD again, though the CD was too scratched to make the game run normally.
this is DEFINATELY a game that deserves a second chance. i see this game as a lost gem that didn't have a chance to shine, and if i knew more about programming, i definately would try to remake this game. that's a promise!
but for now, we have to wait patiently until someone else does it... :P
Streets of SimCity has many weak points: the car handling is far from realistic, the campaigns and items are poorly designed and don't make much sense, the quality of graphics is bad and the buildings, for example, do not really look like those in SimCity 2000. I don't like some of the music, either. Despite its many weaknesses, the game is not totally awful. It has its moments when you play it. In addition, Streets of SimCity has lots of good features: you can destroy almost everything, drive in the cities created in SimCity 2000 or build your own using the SCURK, and create new cars. There is also some humor in the game. So, sometimes the game is fun to play but you can get bored quickly.
I loved this game. Made some crazy *** levels for it... Gosh so long ago!
EW!
The only good part of this game are the radio stations
Actually the gameplay was really fun for me. Player's Choice was the best, you could pick whatever SC2K city or make your own with the Urban Renewal Kit. Get a fast J57 (sportscar) or the StreetRat (truck) with multiple missile launchers and machine guns and just tear it up. Mindless destruction, hilarious courier messages, the great music on the radio, hitting cows, blowing up buildings, flying around with the airfoil. The campaigns had funny voice acting/storylines although the actual play didn't make sense at all, basically just driving from checkpoint to checkpoint and fighting cars. The "racing" was similarly bad.
The game was rushed to market, had a terribly inefficient graphics engine, and suffered horrible crashes and bugs that only got worse with each new version of Windows. But the style, humor, concepts and even play value were great (if mindless in some cases). It would be great to see this particular car combat game reborn in some form and that's why I uploaded it here.
The songs are all on YouTube. EA also still sells the soundtrack it seems.
