Story:
Fifteen years following the harrowing incidents at the Castle of Barnard, the specter of the Baron, Jonathan Barnard, emerges from the shadows, pleading for assistance from the main protagonist, Marcus Grant. Concurrently, Marcus is approached by Professor Woodbridge, the elderly academic from the castle's history. An unforeseen catastrophe approaches, posing a threat to the world at large. Marcus finds himself thrust into another treacherous journey, not only to rescue his daughter but to safeguard the fate of the entire world.

IotD2 Development Article #6 - July 2024
Hi everyone,
I'm still working hard on my custom story called Illusions of the Dead 2. I have some good news and some bad news. In this development article I will be talking about the future of this custom story!
- New lantern preview
Like I said in the previous development article, the Custom Story is now a Full Conversion Mod, which will feature the A Machine for Pigs lantern. This will create a more immersive experience, add more shadows to the environment and overall a better atmosphere. Check it out for yourself!

- Custom chapter select screen
Like I mentioned earlier in another development article, the mod will feature 4 chapters in total. 3 of which can be selected and completed in any order. This is achieved by creating a custom chapter select screen as seen in the image below:

You, the player, will be able to step in any of the 3 teleportation zones. After 5 seconds, the selected chapter will start the loading process. Once the chosen chapter is completed, the player won't be able to enter the chapter again. Something unique in my opinion :)

- Development will slow down a bit
And last but not least, some bad news. Unfortunately I've decided that development has to slow down for a bit. Until now, I've been working so extremely hard on this mod that I'm starting to feel a little bit burned out. Don't get me wrong, it's a lot of fun to do in my spare time! But I'm so busy in real life with thing like:
- My full time job
- My girlfriend and family
- My social life and friends
So, no, the project is not cancelled, but I will take my time developing this mod. And to be honest, I'm also a little bit sad to see the lack of interaction and comments, yet I understand it's an old game and that's the way things go. I will also be setting the expected release date to 2025. I hope for your understanding!

Hi! All the voices and conversations will always be in English. However, upon release I can add a Spanish translation for the subtitles and the notes etc. No problem :)

Hi TimProzz. I'm very excited for Illusions of the Dead 2. I recently replayed the first one and it was even scarier than I remember it. Really great work man! I completely understand the delay, and of course I'm happy to wait until 2025 for the second game. It will be worth it :)

A week ago I finished playing the first part, I downloaded it along with other mods one day out of curiosity and nostalgia because years ago I liked to see youtubers play amnesia and especially the custom stories, and some time later I bought the game and I finished it and I wanted to download custom histories to relive old glories, and I just finished playing yours and I really liked it and enjoyed playing it, it really is f****** crazy! Now I see that you have announced the second part and I am excited to try it.

you know it still blows me away that illusions of the dead was your first custom story. i think the only reason I didn't play it for so long is it sorta had the screenshot of a grunt which made me think it was just a meme mod. which sucks because the first game is honestly ******* amazing especially for 2017 amnesia modding stuff. this one though? i think this will cement itself in the community as the absolute peak of amnesia modding. hopefully squeaking past white night which honestly I've always found to be pretty meh.
