Maintenance update for the Roscoe street Demo, bringing it to version 0.5!
So I decided to take some time off working on the full version of the mod
to update the demo:
I started to notice people complaining over various bugs, including flickering issues and the RTX rendering breaking very suddenly when looking in certain directions, so I did a little digging and found the troublemaker. I also took the opportunity to fix some other stuff, adjust a few settings and remove a few obsolete normal-maps. I've also included updated textures of the Subway and Bus maps, courtesy of our talented 2D artist Gector! All textures that has any form of text in them will look bad, because AI can't do a good job upscaling them, so we will remaster these type of textures by hand instead.
The demo should work flawlessly now. This brings the version to 0.5, so feel free to give it a shot!
Changelog:
- Fixed an issue where the RTX rendering would break when looking in certain directions
- Fixed some textures being tagged with the wrong category, or not tagged at all
- Removed normal-maps from characters head/face + arms/hands, no more vaseline faces!
- Removed other obsolete normal-maps from surfaces that are supposed to be perfectly flat
- Added lighting to the outside area that is shown during the cutscene at the beginning of the level
- Added a very subtle bloom effect to lights, to make them look better connected to the environment
- Lowered the intensity of the train car's headlights to more realistic levels
- Reworked the lighting throughout the level to make it brighter in general
- Dialed up AF to x16, raised mipmap bias to 0.8 and added a local contrast to make textures pop!
- Added experimental physical lighting to muzzle flashes, illuminating the environment when shooting
- Further tuning of material roughness and metallic values
- Placed a couple of strong lights down on second level, to make the scene more interesting
- Added a couple of teasers from the full version of the mod, go find them!
Known issues:
There's still no proper crosshair, I have tried hard but couldn't solve it. However, I found a way to add a
laser sight of sorts, that can be used to help with aiming, it's not perfect but perhaps better than nothing.
I will include it as a separate download! It comes in three different colors :)
Installation advice:
If you have an old version of the demo installed, then I suggest deleting the rtx-remix folder and the rtx.conf files inside of the e2driver folder before installing this new version, you can't simply overwrite the old files!
If you're installing it for the first time, please refer to this installation guide on the following link below:
