year ago, we embarked on an ambitious journey - transforming Project Capture from a collection of maps into a full-fledged Portal 2 modification. This decision wasn't taken lightly; it was driven by a desire to create a truly unique and memorable experience for players. Today, we're excited to share our progress and offer a glimpse into the future of Project Capture.
Let's address the elephant in the room: Project Capture is not an F-Stop remake or revival. While the core concept of a camera that interacts with the environment remains, PCapture diverges sharply in its narrative, gameplay, and overall vision. Our goal is not to replicate the past, but to create something entirely new.
Over the past year, we've tirelessly worked on crafting a compelling narrative that delves deeper into the Aperture Science lore than ever before. The story you'll experience is a complete reimagining, exploring themes of betrayal, ambition, and the unforeseen consequences of unchecked scientific progress.
The familiar, yet changed characters you'll encounter, including Cave Johnson and VIRA, play a pivotal role in this narrative, their motivations and actions intertwined with the unfolding events.
We've painstakingly crafted a world that reflects Aperture Science's decline, a stark contrast to the pristine environments of Portal 2. Crumbling test chambers, flickering lights, and an eerie silence create an atmosphere of unease and uncertainty.
The gameplay, too, has undergone a significant transformation. The ASQRA camera is no longer simply a tool for resizing objects used just from time to time; it's a key to unraveling puzzles, manipulating the environment, and progressing through the story. We've introduced new elements and mechanics that add depth and challenge to the gameplay, while remaining true to the spirit of Portal 2.
We're incredibly excited about the future of Project Capture and can't wait to share more with you soon. Stay tuned for upcoming articles detailing specific gameplay mechanics, level design philosophies, and insights into the development process. The journey is far from over, and we invite you to join us as we bring this vision to life.

Interesting to see how the mappack has changed over time, especially in terms of art direction. Still love it though.
