The Old Realms is a fan made mod project for the game Mount & Blade: Bannerlord. This project is 100% unofficial and in no way endorsed by Games Workshop. We do not accept donations nor do we receive any money from this project.
Important Note:
It is highly recommended that you look at our list of known issues. The first time a user loads assets
takes a long time and may appear frozen; this is completely normal.
To have a smoother experience it is recommended that the first thing you do is launch a custom
battle that contains every unit from the mod activated and participating, launch the battle and wait
for 90-120 minutes while it loads. The amount of time it takes is dependent on the power of your PC.
It is not ideal but given our current limitations it is our best current solution. This way you only have
to endure this process once, then the game will load fast after that.
Explanation:
The reason this happens is that the game recompiles shader files in the background which is
particularly slow. This is done on the engine level beyond the modder’s reach. You can track its
progress observing the logs.
Shader recompilation happens once for every 3D asset/material in any mod when it is loaded for
battle the very first time. Shader recompilation is also re-triggered every time Bannerlord updates
through Steam, no matter how small the patch is. This affects all mods that add lots of assets to your
game, not just us. We urge TaleWorlds to allocate some of their resources to optimize their shader
compilation routines so this process may be accelerated, as it is a bad user experience.
Installation Instructions:
The mod is split into 5 submodules each responsible for a certain facet of the mod.
1. Ensure your Bannerlord is on the current live version, 1.6.1. If you need to
upgrade/downgrade your Bannerlord to the correct version, do the following:
o Select Mount and Blade II via Steam, right click, “Properties”
o Ensure your Bannerlord is on version 1.6.1/you are opted out of any betas
2. Download and extract the zip archive into your Bannerlord Modules/ folder just as you
would with any other mod.
3. Please ensure you have Bannerlord Harmony installed as well. It is required.
Nexusmods.com
4. When launching the game, use the following load order:
o Harmony
o Prenative
o **Taleworld’s Modules**
o ArmoryAssets
o EnvironmentAssets
o CoreAssets
o Core
Mechanics:
Being a Vampire:
- To be a Vampire you must choose the ‘Vampire Nobility’ option during character creation as
your final choice. The Vampire base mesh will be visible only once you have loaded into the
game
Magic & Prayers:
- To have access to magic you must choose the Necromancer, Vampire Nobility or Bright
Wizard option during character creation, otherwise you will not have access for the duration
of your campaign.
- For access to prayers you must choose the Warrior Priest Acolyte or you will not have access
to prayers for the duration of your campaign.
To use abilities/battle magic: (No campaign magic yet)
- During battle pressing Q puts you into aiming mode, a reticule will appear and you will be
able to target your spells.
- Using the mouse wheel will switch between your spells (if you have learned multiple)
- New UI elements will appear on the bottom left of your screen, with an image representing
your selected spell and a cooldown timer
- Spells are reliant on the users Winds of Magic (mana), this is fairly self-explanatory. It is
regained over time in battle and on the campaign map.
Necromancy:
- To summon/recruit units through Necromancy you must choose the Vampiric Nobility or
Necromancer options during character creation. This will allow you to recruit undead units
from the new graveyard location within settlements as well as post-battle.

Jawollooo ;D
Mod crashes pretty frequently in combat. Looks like a GREAT start though.
infinite loading screen when get in to battle
Just be patient the game has to load all the assets, but it's worth the wait ;)
Urraaaaaaaaa!
Whenever I try to start the game all I get is this:
"Cannot load: ../../Modules/Bannerlord.Harmony/bin/Win64_Shipping_Client/Bannerlord.Harmony.dll"
I have reinstalled the game again and I only have one mod (The Old Realms). Harmony is at the top of the mod list. It's maddening... Help me, please.
You have to unblock the .dll file in question. Find it, right click on it, go to properties, then click "unblock"
You'll need to do this for every major dll, there is one for each sub-mod

Well been playing for a little while and noticed 2 problems. Crashes quite often and battles take quite a while to start.
First time i crashed ive been chilling in a castle waiting to heal up and boom crash.
Tho i understand its quite new and its barely even started. Even bannerlord is not done so its understandandable
YES! YES!!!

I have one of the errors already mentioned, i followed all the instruction, i even tried to unblock all dlls, but i keep getting "Cannot load ../../Modules/TOW_PreNative/bin/win64_Shipping_Client/TOW_PreNative.dll", maybe i just have to wait for future updates
you need to unblock the dll files. windows automatically blocks any dll file that you download to prevent it from running. just search "how to unblock dll bannerlord" and you should be able to fix it in 10 minutes like i did.

Could you make a separate version with only items?
cities don't sell any useful armor/weapons and there are frequent crashes
УРРАААААААААА!!!
Maybe my pc is too bad but, the long loading screens for battles ( witch is arguably the most important feature of the game) makes the game unplayable for me atm. 10 + minutes per battle is just too much for me.
is t here any way to improve this? because the game looks AMAZING and i am super hyped to play more
no everyone is getting slow loading time. but as the description says create a custom battle and import all the units in the game. it will take awhile but after that campaign battles should load faster

Jesus H christ
My computer is mid-spec, can run most games
I did as suggested and started a custom battle to load characters.
Literally the first fireball that was going to hit a static character closes down the game.
I know its only early release but ffs
everyone is getting crashes, doesn't really matter what you do. Even moving around the map causes this. I'd say wait for a few days and they might give us a hotfix
any chance we can get a armor pack at some point if we just want it for the OG game without the map overhaul
May i aks how long it usualy takes for battle to load for you guys ?
Like bigger battles
Read the description. You want to get into custom battles and load all the units with max battle size and it will take about 30-60 minutes but after that campaign battles should load faster
I know, THATS why i aks.
I followed instructions
then you won't get an answer to that because everyone has different specs and it loads faster or slower depending on that but for me usually a few seconds but if I do get those really long loading screens then it's about 30 minutes
